 "text": "RS 14:99\n\n\u00a799. Reckless operation of a vehicle\n\nA. Reckless operation of a vehicle is the operation of any motor vehicle, aircraft,\nvessel, or other means of conveyance in a criminally negligent or reckless manner.\n\nB.(1) Whoever commits the crime of reckless operation of a vehicle shall be fined\nnot more than two hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not more than ninety days, or both.\n\n(2) On a second or subsequent conviction the offender shall be fined not less than\ntwenty-five nor more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned for not less than ten days nor\nmore than six months, or both.\n\nC.(1) In addition to the penalties imposed pursuant to this Section, upon conviction\nof the first offense, the offender shall also be fined an additional five dollars.\n\n(2) In addition to the penalties imposed under this Section, upon conviction of a\nsecond or subsequent offense, the offender shall also be fined an additional ten dollars.\n\n(3) Monies collected pursuant to this Subsection shall be forwarded by the sheriff\nto the state treasurer within thirty days of collection.\n\n(4) After allocation to the Bond Security and Redemption Fund as provided in\nArticle VII, Section 9(B) of the Constitution of Louisiana, the state treasurer shall deposit\nthe collections into the Louisiana Emergency Response Network Fund as established in R.S.\n40:2845.\n\nActs 2014, No. 791, \u00a77; Acts 2025, No. 194, \u00a71, eff.
